Qiviut Needle-felted Mitten Insert with Tanis Simpson (10+)

Everybody is welcome! Join Tanis Simpson for a unique workshop to create qiviut mitten inserts using needle-felting techniques. Using ultra-soft muskox wool — or qiviut — participants will craft warm, luxurious pieces to insert into mittens for extra warmth. Qiviut is cherished for its rarity, softness, and unparalleled warmth — said to be eight times warmer than wool and softer than cashmere. Learn about Umingmak — “the bearded one” — and the heirloom fibre treasured by Inuvialuit for generations across the Arctic.
