Porcupine Quill Workshop with Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild (18Y+)

Join Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild for a hands-on porcupine quill workshop at Gallery@501 Art Studio. In this three-hour session, participants will delve into the ancient art of quillwork, a traditional craft exclusive to North America. Alaynee, who learned these techniques from her mother, will guide you through the rich history and cultural significance of this intricate art form. You’ll have the opportunity to create your own stunning quillwork pendant, blending creativity with Lakota-nêhiyaw tradition. Leave with a beautiful handmade piece and a deeper appreciation for this fascinating traditional art. Tansi & Hau Mitakoyapi, My name is Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild. I am the youngest daughter of Marvin and Patricia Littlechild, deeply connected to my Lakota-nêhiyaw roots. As a visual artist, I draw inspiration from the traditional materials and techniques passed down through my family. I take great care in honoring the integrity of Dakota/Lakota artistic practices. My work celebrates my culture, pays tribute to my family, and reflects my lived experience. Visit www.Goodwillcollections.ca to explore more of my work!
