Family

Owl Prowl

Join our guest speaker(s) in this introduction program to the fascinating world of Alberta’s owls. We will then go outside and call for Great Horned and Saw-whet owls. They may hoot back! Dress appropriately for the weather.

Family Camp

Kickstart your summer by spending a weekend at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre! Learn camping basics, go on a bug hunt, make crafts and explore the trails together. Meet other families while trying new activities like slacklining, campfire cooking and setting up a campsite, then enjoy an evening-led campfire program with marshmallows, singing, games and more under the starlight. Share a family adventure you’ll always remember. Participants only need to bring personal items and sleeping gear, including a sleeping bag and mat. All food and camping equipment is provided. This program is guided by experienced instructors who lead all activities and stay on site overnight to support your family throughout the weekend.

Family Interpretive Plant Walk

Bring the whole family for a fun and engaging Interpretive Plant Walk in the beautiful Beaverhills Biosphere! Together, you’ll explore a variety of native plants while our friendly guides share kid‑friendly facts about how these plants grow, why they’re important, and how we can care for them responsibly. This relaxed outdoor adventure is perfect for families who love discovering nature, asking questions, and spending time together in the fresh air. Whether you’re a seasoned nature lover or just curious about the plants around you, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
